Wes is a former English footballer known for his successful career at Manchester United, where he won 13 major trophies, including five Premier League titles and two UEFA Champions Leagues.

Wes began his football journey at 12, joining Manchester United's academy. He turned professional in 1996 and made his senior debut in 1998. During the 1998-99 season, he played a key role in Manchester United's Treble victory, securing the Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League.

Despite a severe injury sidelining him for the 1999-2000 season, Wes returned to become a vital player for United, contributing to multiple Premier League and cup victories. Sir Alex Ferguson praised him as "the best natural defender this club has had for years."

In the 2007-08 season, Wes established himself as United's first-choice right-back and assisted Cristiano Ronaldo's goal in the 2008 Champions League final, helping secure a league and European double.

In 2011, Wes joined Sunderland, where he made an immediate impact and helped the team reach the 2014 League Cup final. He later had stints with Blackburn Rovers and Kerala Blasters, also contributing as a coach.

Internationally, Wes earned 23 caps for England, debuting in 1999. He was part of the 2002 FIFA World Cup squad and played a significant role in England's qualification for the 2010 World Cup. He retired from international football on 8 August 2010.
